The Game So Far...

If you have not missed a game or lost experience points, you have 125XP. Powers have a 80 point cap with the 90 point cap starting at 550. The game began in January 2000 and ended in February 2001.

3/9/01

Check here for Buddha's ending, Ronni's epilogue, Shadowturtle's end, Mon-Chi's finale and here to check up on Diane's rules for the upcoming WoD campaign.

4/4/00 5XP

We encountered Crusher Force and had our asses handed to us in an extended combat. Mon Chi was one body away from death, Daedelus was chewed up pretty badly, Ricochet (a.k.a. Kitsune) and ShadowTurtle were unconscious. We were revived by Special American Tactics (SAT) and we gave statements. There was a building that exploded on one side that Crusher Force was running away from and has yet to be investigated if it is to be investigated at all.

4/11/00 3XP

The game was fairly simple this evening. Our team got together after having our asses handed to us last week and put one of the baddies of Crusher Force behind bars. Bye bye Bulldozer, don't drop the soap.

SAT took him away, everyone gave their particular statements and the game ended early.

Special Note No game on 4/18! Ronni's going away that week.

4/18/00 .87 XP

Hung out over at Brian's mother's place and watched Japanese commercials and some cartoons, had hamburgers and other stuff. Check my personal page to read about that day. Tim said he was going to award .87 XP! Spend it wisely.

4/25/00 3XP

Zero was in the hospital but Crusader had him out of bed while the rest of the team went off on a lark to seek Crusher Force and get revenge for the whipping we got and the general badness Crusher Force embodies. Mostly to stalk and capture Oculon. ShadowTurtle had the bright idea that since Carcarrion was sharklike he might need to be in the ocean and New Jersey has a seaside ghost town (for real) called Asbury Park which would make a great villain hideout.

We saw a shifty figure in the barren streets and we followed him until he decided to start running. We chased him down to an abandoned building. ShadowTurtle, Mon Chi and Ricochet went into the building from the roof. ShadowTurtle was in human form to fit in better and to be quieter. Unfortunately Oculon called his heavy hitting friends and ShadowTurtle was leading the way. He saw the ambush and being a great fighter even as a human (with normal human strength) he decided he would block a punch that was comparable to an anvil falling off a skyscraper. I missed the roll by one and was pulped by it. I was down to negative 5 body and outta the game. Mayhem ensued and after a serious beating the people who were still up had KO'ed Power Crusher (the leader of Crusher Force), Sledge and Oculon. Anvil saw the situation and decided to surrender. We didn't get Carcarrion.

The abandoned building is now ablaze after the combat, Daedelus is saving the homeless by teleporting them out into the street, ShadowTurtle was teleported out into the street to bleed in safety, the team finally escapes the inferno. We look over towards Daedelus's car and see three unmarked black vans which open up and reveal VIPER agents. Oh shit.

5/2/00 3XP

I didn't get to do much in character except be a bleeding body out on the front lawn (so to speak) of the burning building where we left off. Quick rundown. VIPER was outside and from Crusher Force's reaction, VIPER was after Crusher Force. I'm certain VIPER wasn't too happy to see us either.

Ends up that Crusher Force got away (please keep in mind i only paid a tiny bit of attention to the game because it was combat and i didn't want to get involve too much to avoid making stupid comments that would slow the game down). We beat down on VIPER holding them off until Special American Tactics (SAT) arrived. Mr. Black was taken away, I reminded Tim that Mr. Black is cold blooded then I also asked if I could add that Mr. Black also has black blood and he didn't seem to mind. I'm going to be hurting if my insurance doesn't cover stuff.

I guess I can say we're in the afterglow of combat and waiting to see what will happen next. A nice note, Crusader also showed up with the cavalry so there's a great chance of fun RP with Crusader who is always done with flair by Tim.

Last note, I'll be posting the L5R cards I made up for everyone in the group soon enough. Right now I reckon the cards will just be done in ASCII art but if I get my hands on blank personality cards from L5R or I'm able to use Photoshop to alter existing cards I'll see what I can do. Glad everyone got a chuckle out of that.

5/9/00 3XP

Game was mostly combat again, I was stuck in the regen tank over at Sanctuary while the team went out to help a museum do security for an upcoming exhibit that would feature one piece of the Bloodscourge which is something that Daedelus is going to get all the pieces for and put it back together for his own use. Unfortunately Black Paladin and his nefarious agents arrived to steal it and a huge combat started. Everyone got their asses handed to them and things looked grim at one point when Zero stalled for time and pulled a distraction. Daedelus was fucked seriously trying to keep the 1/3 of Bloodscourge from Black Paladin. Then (I can't remember his name, some magical metahuman guy) appeared and helped pull our asses from the fire. SAT arrived and took everyone to medical help and secured the crime scene.

As far as I can tell, everyone's healed up from the combats from games before and this particular combat except Zero who is at 1/2 his positive body. I'm out of the regen tank, Daedelus is the picture of health and it's time for some well deserved down time. WOO HOO!

5/16/00 2XP

Tonight's game was extraordinarily exciting! I'm sorry that Brian wasn't there to share in the fun but the way that things went it just couldn't hold up! We came upon Carcarrion wounded and he told us there's this metahuman gang who turned on him. He gave us information that lead to a warehouse at the docks of Philadelphia. When we arrived, thinking we were going to come upon this metahuman gang instead we found the bodies of the former members of Checkmate.

Rehnquist was dead, Black Adder was dead, Dr. Morbius was also dead (and human for those in the know) but Whisper was still barely alive. She could only pass along one word, "Genocide".

Next week things get hairy.

5/23/00 2XP (I got an extra experience for a silly comment, woo)

Alrighty, last week's gaming entry was a big fat lie. I'm just glad that the lie held together and was believable for a whole week so I could relish the bit tonight where the secret was finally revealed and all the tension was let out. Tim started the game as if we were going into combat against these minutemen robots (they're sentinels in x-men terms) and Brian was a bit upset that he would be missing yet another combat. He says his stomping around was unintentional. We went around the table, did phase twelve, went down the various actions and then we decided that we would let Brian in on the fact that this was entirely a joke and let him in on the real happenings of last week.

The real 5/16/00 entry

When last we left our intrepid adventurers, we were taking some downtime, schmoozing over at Sanctuary and after a little quiet time we figured that we would set up an appointment with Mr. Winters. Turns out that Mr. Winters left us a phone message saying 'be a bit more subtle next time. come by anytime.' Of course we decided to wait. So we went to bed and went about our days. I only recall that I was working at the coroner's office when I found out a mauled body came in. Ends up that this body was mauled in the same way as the first one and my suspicions were not correct, this was an animal attack not a chainsaw attack. In fact, I found a big triangular tooth stuck in the body and sent it to a taxidermist (Dr. Green) at the Newark Museum for identification and he was quite interested. He said it might be a reptile or fish tooth. Sweet. I also ran the serial number for a fifty dollar bill I found in the subject's sock to see if it was used in any crimes or was stolen. Waiting on results.

As for what happened tonight, I ended up having much of the spotlight in game because of my alter ego's profession. He's the coroner for Newark. Ends up that Dr. Green phoned Mr. Black to mention he found something really fascinating about the mysterious serrated triangle-shaped tooth. Thing was that I saw that my voice mail had been accessed and listened to. Something bad was up. On my lunch break I headed over to the museum and saw a guard and the receptionist asleep and things looked awful shady. I went into Dr. Green's lab and found him slumped, I checked him with Forensic Medicine and it ends up that he was the only one who was dead. Behind me there was a squeak and Black Samurai attacked me just as I turned around, changed into ShadowTurtle and blocked his attack. He was impressed, but he kicked me in the gut and tried to slice me into turtle cutlets but my skin's too hard for that to happen. Daedelus arrives with Mon Chi, then Kujaku followed by the cops. I end up lying to them because I was a bit flustered and when I returned to the coroner's office, I told them that I was out to lunch and I came across the crime scene because I received a phone call from Dr. Green saying he found something most fascinating. I was able to make a credible story when I returned to my office though the police chief chewed me out for lying in the first place. Ends up that the corpse from last week, all papers and evidence relating to that corpse are now missing. I tried investigating who might've stolen the stuff but I drew a blank.

Daedelus revealed Dr. Destroyer's offer to Kujaku and Zero, Zero had kittens. Pretty much we split up after the shouting match. Daedelus went to the danger room to try out his 1/3 of Bloodscourge, I tried to get my assistant to get mindscanned in case he was fucked with mentally but he refused, Zero and Kujaku are being a cute couple and all that kinda stuff. When we left off, we were going to get together to search the Newark docks where the murder of Mr. Winters' brother and the homeless guy occurred. We're fairly certain the murderer is Carcarrion.

5/30/00 3XP

Tonight's game was the all singing, all dancing, shit of the world combat. We went to Newark's dock area to check up on the recent murders from that area and ended up running into DEMON. I have no clue what (if any) connection DEMON has with the two murders right now.

Daedelus and Ricochet were nabbed by huge black tentacles and drawn into the sewer where they remained in their grasp for the majority of the combat. The rest of the team was scattered about the area taking on DEMON agents. We whacked them pretty badly but they kept on coming despite our best efforts. Once one of us got slammed through a building we noticed there was some bizarre ritual going on and engaged the evil doers in there. We kicked their asses pretty soundly and only a few got away but we got out of the situation with two mace-like staves and a captive DEMON agent. I wasn't paying too much attention because I was feeling tired. See you next week!

6/1/00 2XP

I wasn't there. Foo.

6/7/00 2XP

We ended the game with ShadowTurtle in the sewers about to assault six VIPER agents, Kujaku and Zero were about to enter the fray aboveground at a burning warehouse, Daedelus/Ricochet/Mon-Chi were waiting aboveground from where ShadowTurtle is as well.

Do we assault a huge VIPER nest and get to take it into our own custody? Is it blown up by an angry nest leader leaving us trapped underground? Will SAT come and help straighten out our situation after we finish our assault?

All this and less next Tuesday.

Summer Solstice 4XP

Whoa... Something's screwy. I seem to have missed a week. I'm way too tired right now to check the math on the dating of my gaming entries. Tonight was a battle royale in the sewers and we screwed Tim's plans because we went in one at a time rather than all at once so the VIPER agents and 'bots were able to pick us off one by one. After a long struggle of getting our forces into one place, we were able to overcome the baddies and we're going on to the second area of this underground VIPER base. I'm stunned for shit but I'll be dandy after a few minutes rest. Ricochet has lost 11 body. Mon-Chi should be alright in a minute or two. Kujaku is hurt badly, at least I think so, and Zero isn't too bad off. Ricochet has a VIPER agent who he's dragging over to the eye-scan/DNA check locked door and we're about to begin round two of our assault. Where SAT is, I have no clue.

6/27/00 3XP

Oops, I forgot to fix up the dates on this thing. D'oh. Plus I'll check my math on the XP average. Tonight we finished our raid of the VIPER base. We dressed up in VIPER uniforms and Mon-Chi was our wookie since he couldn't fit in any VIPER uniforms. I goaded the major in charge of security to come out so we could get in and we were able to get through. Mon-Chi did his Batman stealth and leapt up to the rafters leaving the other VIPER agents wondering where he went. Kujaku flew in stealthily and took out some air vipers with her mental attacks. Ricochet and I (as Mr. Black, not Shadowturtle) went to the infirmary. Zero was above ground directing SAT to help back our siege up because Brian wasn't present. The VIPER doctor saw that I faked an injury so I felt the jig was up and I shifted into Shadowturtle and took care of the agents while Ricochet took out the doctor. Daedelus with the other VIPERs and the VIPER major were shooting at Kujaku much to her dismay (Daedelus firing wide not wanting to hit her) and she got hit pretty badly. Mon-Chi was busy sneaking around through vents, disabling anti-personnel devices that wandered the vents and stunning two VIPER scientists. He ventured forward to see where they were coming from and found the armory which he blew up with some grenades. Woo! Big boom.

Back at the infirmary I went invisible when I heard something big being clacked together right outside the door and Ricochet was busy bandaging himself. The VIPERs outside peeked in, saw that there was a mess but didn't see the big black turtle decided things were alright and let us be. Suddenly the front doors of the base blew in and SAT arrived with three members of Phalanx. SAT was instrumental in taking in the VIPERs, Phalanx rushed in and helped before going off on their own. Mon-Chi, carrying two hurt VIPER scientists, was seen by escaping VIPERs and urged along to teleport with them. He went along and threw in his last grenades. Sadly the nest leader fired at them and the grenades didn't blow up the teleportation nexus so most VIPERs got away. We learned later that we had caught some high muckety-mucks along with regular VIPERs. Sweet.

Lastly, Phalanx was the group who disabled the nuclear bomb underneath the base. Woo them. Everyone left the base, gave statements and we exited to the best egress that would have the media where we could get some glory. Mon-Chi ended up naming our team Gestalt (Diane's idea) and we are all going out to celebrate. Woo.

Independence Day

No game tonight. DuH!

7/11/00 2XP

Tonight's game was relatively low-key. We started out really late (around nine) and things didn't get rolling for a while until we got to the hospital to visit our pal Ricochet. Crusader came by to visit and offer his get well wishes to Ricochet as well as handing out copies of his autobiography then left to watch over Ricochet from a hidden place just in case VIPER ends up coming after our compatriot seeking revenge.

I decided to broach the subject of how does Ricochet know so much about VIPER? Ends up his brother in Japan is a fucking nest leader and has been trying to get Ricochet back to Japan. That's certainly a bombshell. Then Daedelus told his his thoughts regarding his quest to reassemble Bloodscourge and how it's some scholarly thing to learn about this device created by the church for the sole purpose of destroying demons and how it may eventually consume Daedelus' soul and how we'll have to put him down like Old Yeller. Woo. I shared my little bit of baggage how my character is on Prozac, how he killed a bunch of members of Genocide and how he doesn't feel too proud of it (despite what Genocide represents and their deeds) especially since he went majorly berserk when it happened.

I had a small flash into Shadowturtle's concept. Only one Shadowturtle is born every 1000 years and it's Mr. Black's time to fulfill this role. Anyway. Kujaku seems to be on an even keel, Mon-Chi recounted his tale of destruction when he blew up part of a mall in New Mexico and Zero said he really had nothing to confess because he doesn't think he's done anything wrong.

Overall a pleasant evening. See you next week!

7/18/00 2XP

I got an extra experience tonight. Woo hoo!

Anyway, it was another night of down time where we were getting ourselves in gear to buy a warehouse for a base, visit Mr. Mystic because he said he had a favor he could pass along to us which would equip our soon-to-be base with some decent stuff then we went to Dr. Destroyer to regretfully decline his offer for sponsorship. He left the door open should we happen to decide being under his auspices would be to our advantage. Lovely man.

We returned to Daedelus' apartment for booze, ShadowTurtle drank a bit too much and was flipping through Daedelus' forbidden tomes much to his annoyance and making an offhand comment about how we should have a pool table in our new base because Zero needs a place to pop Kujaku's cherry. Hah! We got down our wants for the new base, I asked for a hot flat rock, some gravel, a water dish and all the iceberg lettuce I can eat. No, I asked for a room without windows, a heated pool and an entrance into the sewers. Kitsune wants a Reed Richards tech level medical lab, Daedelus wants a library for his forbidden tomes and Mon-Chi wants a funky window or door that opens from his room so he can come and go as he pleases. I don't recall what Zero wanted. I will be donating 2 XP (the extra one I earned tonight and next week's xp point), Brian donated about 4, I think Ronni gave 2 and I don't remember what Booner donated.

Also the base will have a 15 pt. Mystery Disadvantage. I figure next week will be a little more downtime and then the game will get back in gear once we're settled.

7/25/00 2XP

Tonight's game had us getting a little steam worked up. We finalized plans for our base, Rob will be creating the base over the weekend and hopefully it should be ready by next Tuesday. Okay, we went out on patrol, we roughed up some gang bangers, did our day jobs (if any) and did the same later on the next night. The next night we came across a bunch of toughs roughing up an old couple in a car, Daedelus made short work of them with his energy blasts, Zero found some black-clad dork hiding in the shadows and got wolloped with a morbane staff. I spooked the gang members who were still standing while the rest of the team went to dogpile on the morbane who regretfully immolated himself. Either it was just a flamboyant teleport special effect or he truly committed suicide. Mon-Chi tracked down the fleeing gangers and brought the rest of the team to their hideout which was now consumed in flames. We pulled the people trapped inside out of the inferno and that was that.

Lovely time was had by all, see you all next week.

8/1/00 3XP

Game starts out slow, we go out looking for trouble, see some gang-bangers walking past (they're the Glorious Lords, wearing magical earrings) but they pay us no mind and eventually ditch me (i decided to shadow them invisibly). Daedelus and Kujaku find an abandoned warehouse with a magical glow coming from inside and investigate further. Daedelus finds there's a black crystal skull on a table and identifies it as the something of Lucius and he's all hard about it. Ricochet finds the stairway to go upstairs and his foot gets caught on something which starts everything beeping.

The warehouse explodes, Daedelus fucks up his teleport to safety, I get out safely, Kujaku gets whacked and the skull is crushed and Zero's a bit hurt. Ricochet is able to get out to safety. Once we're outside, I try to help Daedelus with his teleport shock. A storm brews overhead and we spot Dark Seraph. Sadly I'm in human form when a black lightning bolt from Dark Seraph strikes Zero and myself. I'm at 3 positive body now thanks to my doctor figuring out how to best take care of me.

Dark Seraph gets away, I'm unconscious and hurt at the hospital and people are gathered there waiting to see if I woke up. I rolled an eighteen so I won't be gaining consciousness today. Ooopha.

8/8/00 2XP

We roughed up some gangers, we were given the grand tour of our new base, shown the crazy insect things the Vertinax gave us as part of the deal and then went out on patrol once again at the wharf. Daedelus rolled around in fish heads in hopes of some underworld types approaching him to do some dirty work for fifty bucks. Nothing happened. It'll be night number two of this next week, eh wot?

This was the last Tuesday game that will be held at Ronni's and I'd like to thank Diane for taking over the hosting aspect of the game because the drive alone would've numbered my days (whether or not I have money) in the game especially for the number of hours we've packed in lately.

8/15/00 2XP

Yet another languid night of downtime where ShadowTurtle experienced the med bay and was healed up. By how much, he won't know for a bit. Everyone tried out the liquified bug innards and didn't retch from the taste and it ends up that it's highly nutritious. Tim said it was his version of spoo (a food from Babylon 5 that any race could eat and derive nutrition).

My bad, we started out the game with combat. We went down to the wharf with Daedelus disguised as a homeless guy (he rolled poorly and ended up looking like Freddie Mercury) in hopes that he would get hired by underworld hoodlums so we could start some investigating. Ends up that Carcarrion is around for trouble, notices Daedelus and decides to eat him. As the rest of Gestalt runs to his defense, three members of the Assassin's Guild come to Carcarrion's aid. Later we find out that this was an initiation ceremony. Zero is knocked out cold and apparently meets certain doom. Kujaku fights the good fight with a berserk Sauron but is eventually worn down and I went up against Black Samurai where I held my own against him quite well.

Gestalt seems to assume that the Guild was after Mindlock. We know they weren't after us because then we would be certainly dead. Once the Guild showed up I was sure that Tim would kill one of the characters or have little remorse about it.

Lastly, no game next week. See you all on the 29th!

8/29/00 3XP

First things first, there will be a game next Tuesday.

When last we left our intrepid adventurers we were getting ourselves prepped to patrol Newark in a more efficient fashion creating a map divided into gang areas and various crimes that we've been made aware of through our adventures. Night patrol began.

Raven territory was clear but once we made it over to the territory of the Glorious Lords we came upon a suspicious figure walking around. Kujaku noticed he had a magical aura about him and I noticed him because she leaned into the front seat to tell Daedelus what she saw. Eventually after some stalking, Daedelus caught up with him in a 7-11 that the rest of Gestalt had surrounded (stealthily, of course).

Daedelus had a pleasant chat and some free coffee with the guy in black who was upset that we were stalking him and he was not entirely forthcoming about why he was in the territory of a gang that had an alliance with magic users (D.E.M.O.N.) and left after a snotty comment. The team regrouped and we started back towards the Buick. High above the streets was Mon-Chi leaping from rooftop to rooftop who noticed something apelike leaping towards him on an intercept course. Soon the team below had their own baddie to deal with, one was a green scaly thing with three eyes and three tongues, another was a red mist of a female figure with four arms and a bloated form of purple that waddled about after rising from the asphalt.

Mon-Chi got eaten, Daedelus freed him from the clutches of the demon's stomach with a fireblast from Bloodscourge. Kujaku flew up to the top of the building to save her man from the clutches of the blue baddie with huge hands. It bowed before her and said something about a prophecy looking straight in her eyes. Since she doesn't cotton much to demons she swiped viciously and slew it. The red misty bitch was starting to gesture at me so I decided to tackle her down viciously and quite successfully. Woo. The rest of the team were doing a fine job keeping the green three eyed baddie at bay (everyone rolled well tonight) until this skeleton with parchment skin and a porcelain, smiling noh mask appeared in a blast taking everyone by surprise. He stated something regarding how one stage of a prophecy has been fulfilled with the destruction of an innocent. The demons and the skeletal figure vanished in a poof. When Kujaku looked down she noticed that the demon she slew had turned into a naked teenager.

We gathered down below the building, everyone was mixed up and trying to figure out what we're going to do about this. I just made my berserk roll (I go berserk whenever a metahuman kills a normal human) and kept my cool. Kujaku was flustered by everything and flew away to Daedelus' annoyance because he felt she wasn't taking responsibility. I went down the sewer and punched the walls on a long wander towards the base because I wanted nothing else to do with that situation.

The cops came, Gestalt gave them some cock and bull story about how we heard a big explosion, went to check it out and then found the body. The cops bought it and that was the end of that situation. Whew. They returned to the base.

I decided to go downtown which was the last destination of the strange man in black we met earlier to find him since I was of the mind that he didn't like us prying into his business and sent some demons after us to teach us a lesson. Plus Shadowturtle was awesomely pissed that the demon had possessed a kid. I rolled a critical to find him and I did, I stalked him invisibly for a bit and then decided to catch his attention. He decided to hustle down the subway.

I teleported after him and tapped him on the back doing a presence attack with my creepiness accusing him of being a coward and sending children to do his work. All the normals went crazy and ran leaving us alone on the stairs, he was apparently pissed about being hassled. I exchanged hard words with him and he lowered a gun at me. Tension mounted and he said something about not seeing my face again or he'll wipe the place up with me before turning his back to me after I told him my name and asked him to tell me his name. I teleported after him and slugged him (I was still Boris Black, not ShadowTurtle). His coat turned golden and turned into gold plate mail. Oh shit. He drew a sword and said that was it and swung it at me. THANK FUCKING GOD FOR 2/2 resistant armor while human because I wasn't stunned for con nor was I at negative body (9 stun 9 body from his sword). I shifted into Shadowturtle, lifted the sword out of the slash in my left shoulder and told him to be prepared next time to face me like a man and called him coward again before I went invisible and half moved up the stairs.

He was shaken and went downstairs into the terminal. I winced and cursed my stupidity once again while I made my way home invisibly as ShadowTurtle. The game ended there.

9/6/00 2XP

Slow start, nice end. I got home and hopped into a bug pod to get healed up after being carved up by goldy with the sword down in the subway. Kujaku learned a bit of what the propecy spoken of by the demon from the night before meant. Apparently it's a prophecy for the demons and not a prophecy for her which seemed to put Kujaku at ease. That morning Daedelus went over to read the Big Book of Prophecies at Kujaku's monestary but he didn't glean too much and he couldn't take the book out of the shrine it was stored in.

Kitsune went about his business during the day and Mon-Chi went patrolling at the docks to check out the situation there. Everything was copacetic. Later that morning I was splooted out of the bug pod and rested up for the rest of the day while everyone else did their own thing and by nightfall we were all back together except for Zero who was waiting outside of the monestary and wouldn't be let in and Kujaku who stayed in the monestary because she was still shaken by the demon and hearing what she heard about the prophecy.

Our intrepid heroes decided to go cruising the streets of Newark and came upon a lone member of the Glorious Lords running from one end of the street, past us and further down. We pulled over and followed the fellow where he turned right down an alleyway. Daedelus and I were invisible, Kitsune was stealthing about and Mon-Chi was hopping rooftop to rooftop under the shadow of night. Kitsune heard the punk say, "Help, they got all the others.." as the punk cut his hand which was some sort of a magic spell since Daedelus noticed an aura about the act. Daedelus shifted into the visible spectrum and froze the kid up a treat keeping him from running away. I looked up to see if there were ominous black clouds gathering high overhead and saw nothing except a lone flying figure which I pointed out to the rest of the team.

Mon-Chi noticed a bright flash on the rooftop opposite him and heard a woman incant something which bound him. The flying thing started towards him as well while Daedelus flew up to the lip of the building and Kitsune ran up the stairs to the roof (taking him a bit of time but he didn't lose a whole turn). I remained down there to make sure no one took advantage of the punk's current bound condition. The woman incanted again and Daedelus found himself bound by strange sigils on his ankles and wrists. Mon-Chi broke out of the entangle and set about dancing with the flying guy who was apparently 1/2 griffon (I think his name's Nigel). On the opposite rooftop was goldy who we learned was named Gawain or at least he was possessed by the spirit of Gawain who decided to attack Daedelus calling him a pit spawn summoning fiend.

Oh dear.

Daedelus got whacked pretty badly, I felt the blood spatter my face, I pushed my strength and leapt up to the rooftop with my shadowclaws out and I rolled a 27 on my presence (5d6). Sadly the opponents weren't impressed since they hunt evil for a living according to Tim. Daedelus is stuck for the remainder of the combat. To make a long story short, we fight the fight until it's a stalemate, Kitsune decides to hassle the gold guy who doesn't cotton to being mocked until I put Kitsune in a 60 STR headlock and roll 20 on my presence to get him to STFU. Now that we were all on the ground and together we were about to start seeing what the hell is going on when the game was called. Woo. Next week: Heavy Roleplaying!

9/12/00 2XP

Woo. Tonight was slow. Our interaction with the Nightwatchers (the D & D type heroes who were scuffling with us) got away with little conversation or interaction but it was on neutral terms. We tried searching for some trouble to keep ourselves busy or get clues (how Scooby) but came up empty. There was an innocent transaction going on at the docks, we went to Sanctuary to get something translated where Mon-Chi ran across the Assassin's Guild which was celebrating the fact that they offed Mindlock. Daedelus was busy researching as was Kujaku with their mystical mumbo-jumbo. Zero and I occupied ourselves playing that jai-alai game from Tron in one of the danger rooms while I tried to figure out why Zero had such an attitude problem. Wasn't anything that I could help nor would I want to get involved because it seemed personal.

The game wrapped up but I don't remember how. Isn't that helpful. Please help my memory here.

9/19/00 3XP

Strangely enough, Tim changed the XP gained to three from two for some reason.

Tonight Kitsune and Shadowturtle came across Dr. Destroyer at Sanctuary, he was sitting at his favorite table drinking champagne. Kitsune thought Dr. Destroyer was celebrating and I decided to get up and talk with him for a bit. Dr. Destroyer didn't recognize me or Kitsune and he was surprised that we had met him at Mr. Winters' estate. We informed him of address and then he left quite abruptly. I gathered Daedelus and Kitsune to head into NYC to see what the heck's gonna happen, Daedelus contacts the others to bring them in on the action.

Kujaku and Zero are the first to arrive on the scene, Kujaku is watching the carnage of Dr. Destroyer bisecting people in black and red powered armor and calling in for SAT to come help out. Zero catches Dr. Destroyer's attention which gains him one hell of a fucking fat lip. Finally Daedelus, Kitsune and I arrive and hop out of the car. Dr. Destroyer turns around and Daedelus lets loose with Bloodscourge and really throws Dr. Destroyer for a loop doing 20 body and 80 stun. Hot fucking damn. I throw up three hexes of darkness in hopes of giving us cover but Dr. Destroyer saturates our area with mini missles. Dr. Destroyer continues bashing the former mansion and keeping us heroes at bay with his powers. Kujaku heads into the mansion to save folk and to see what one of the powered armor guys are looking for in the flaming rubble.

Dr. Destroyer heads over to the place where Kujaku was putting the wounded, along with Mr. Winters and demanded which one was Mr. Winters. Kujaku dutifully pointed out Mr. Winters and moments later Destroyer and Winters were gone in a bright white light.

Later we found a laptop in a safe storage area on the inside which was palmed off to me and I carried it home invisibly so SAT doesn't take it and never let anyone else use it. Kitsune practiced hacking all night so he wouldn't screw anything up on the laptop so I have high hopes. The story of Phalanx with the Champions catching a group called the Savage Circle was fleshed out a little more, apparently the Savage Circle was made up of various supervillains who got together to cause chaos. My memory places them as mercenaries and those who are in more of a gray area with shades of black but that's OOC. The regular news didn't have too much story on the fire at the Central Park mansion of Mr. Winters either and we pretty much left the game at that lull apparently with big things looming on the horizon.

9/26/00 2XP

Slow start where we went car shopping. Later, Kitsune cracked the laptop we aquired and viewed part of a video conference between Dr. Destroyer and Mr. Winters. They were involved with some shady dealings down at the docks. There was yet another ship unloading farm equipment. We scoped the area out, Kujaku offered her services to help protect the Russians unloading at the docks and I checked out this shady character who was spying on us who knew all of our hero IDs. We figure he was there to check out the Russian ship but it might be possible he's checking us out too.

Ends up it's Jaguar from The Champions, he gets away without us being able to ask him what's going on at the docks. We scope out the Glorious Lords territory and nothing's going on there either. Looks like we rousted them from their turf and DEMON along with them.

Who knows? The GM does, that handsome devil.

Next week: More fun!

10/3/00 2XP

Hello to whomever reads this little summary of the Tuesday night game.

The game started out with Mr. Black heading down to the docks to do some surveillance of the area. They weren't hiring and the only other places I could check out were not in a reasonable distance.

Stuff that I did catch were the cops and Airman (from Phalanx, NJ's elite metahuman task force) checking out the Russian warehouse. I had no clue what was going on but talking to a worker after the fact brought up it had something to do with metahumans. There was a Mercedes Benz with tinted windows outside the area too but I didn't catch anything out of the ordinary with that. Side note, all the workers at the Russian warehouse are Russian except for union-mandated union workers who made up a small percentage. I figure that the cops and Phalanx were checking out the Russian warehouse because security cameras saw ShadowTurtle teleport in and teleport out with the invoices.

Back at the base, when everyone had come home from work, I called a meeting where I discussed what I did today and what we should do to get our team more recognition or glory. We discussed our directions and who we could work with and decided that we would try seeing Professor Mystic to get in touch with Nightwatch then Daedelus would get Professor Mystic to help him cross over into the land of the dead to talk with Mindlock and perhaps his supposedly dead father who has info on getting the other pieces of the Bloodscourge.

The travelling to the land of the dead didn't work but we'll be doing that tomorrow in game but we did get in contact with Nightwatch and went down to meet with them to exchange information. They were only interested in things of a mystical nature and didn't have much but I'm certain they'll be helpful later on.

We chucked the evil dagger we had into the Delaware River to destroy it and that was done. Mon-Chi performed part of his kamehameha to see if it was magical and if the members of Nightwatch would know what it was but they didn't have a clue. Mon-Chi let it blast into the river.

We headed back to check out a wrecked out building (the other warehouse? the old DEMON headquarters?) and sifted through the rubble and came up empty handed. Mon-Chi had the great idea to climb down into the sewers to see if there was an underground base or stronghold. I found a loose grate in the wall and Mon-Chi crawled through tripping a boobytrap. Ouch.

Things went boom, Kujaku and Zero came down after us to see if we were all fine, and we cut it there. Mon-Chi is currently in the crawlway into the alcove underground. Daedelus is fucked up but he'll get better, Kitsune took a few nasty bumps but will be fine in time and I just took 13 stun overall. Mon-Chi seems to be hurt bad but he's crawling forward in the shaft to whatever lies ahead.

Next week: What's underground? Travelling to the Land of the Dead and maybe a run-in with Phalanx. We're about due to run into those fascists.

10/10/00

Game's cancelled at the last minute. Bah.

10/17/00 3 XP (I got an extra!!)

We picked up where we left off in the debris of the explosion from two weeks ago. We discovered many traps in the sewer like acid sprays and lots of tripwires to whatever may have been set off. Fucking Christ, I hate metagaming but I reckon one of us should play someone who's familiar with traps.

We tagged them all, discovered two hidey holes for the Ravens gang where we got a bunch of money and some Rolexes. We also found a notebook diary which we will translate and it's safely inside of the car so it wouldn't get fucked up by acid or fecal matter or explosions. We headed back to the tunnel and crawled through. I teleported everyone topside from the tunnel into a warehouse where we did some searching only to find large pieces of metal that we couldn't identify and might as well be farm equipment.

We went through other boxes, reset a security tape and I teleported a lock off of the manhole cover so everyone could go down. I tried to teleport the lock back in but no dice, thankfully I didn't take any no normal defense killing damage. We got out and found Crusader bounding from rooftop to rooftop and followed him. He told us that I'm under suspicion for breaking and entering and he's checking out a silent alarm over at the warehouse we were just at. Phalanx wants me brought in, thankfully Crusader is turned off by them so he might prove to be an ally. Plus if he gets over to the warehouse, we might be able to rummage through shit and he could identify the large pieces of metal and machinery we found.

Out of character, I think we found parts to build a mecha.

The game left off with us at the warehouse with Crusader.

10/24/00 3XP

Crusader went to check out the warehouse we were investigating while we waited on the roof for him. Minutes later, big spotlights hit us (ouch for me) and Phalanx decides it's time to take us all in. Despite appearances, Crusader had nothing to do with them showing up. Thankfully he has come to realize we're onto something, something much bigger and he seems to be on our side.

We were all questioned by General Duke of Phalanx and gave pretty much the same story. I hope this was because we were roleplaying rather than metagaming and ended up with a slap on the wrist for breaking into this heavily trapped warehouse with "farm machinery".

Once we were out and returned to the base, Daedelus got a phone call from Professor Mystic who said he was ready to send Daedelus over to the realm of the dead.

Everyone on the team decided to follow along, except Mon-Chi who stayed behind, and we found out from Mindlock's spirit that Mechassassin was a former member of the Assassin's Guild and would have information that she wouldn't divulge because she's "honorable". Later we went through the land of the dead where we came upon a big steamy place with tentacles that was the place of torture for Daedelus' father. Daedelus learned that the other pieces of the Bloodscourge will come to him and that he doesn't have to seek them out. The great elder god who had captured Daedelus' father and keeps him in torment has offered to release Daedelus' father if Daedelus agrees to give HIM the Bloodscourge once it's completely assembled. HIM tried to sweeten the deal with the fact that HIM wouldn't use the Bloodscourge on our particular dimension. Daedelus declined and left the area crying quietly. We returned to the land of the living, went back to the base, I knocked Kitsune out and we stuffed him into the regeneration bug so he could heal up from the explosion earlier that evening. He's claustrophobic (common, total) and wouldn't normally go into the bug so we had to "help".

No game next week. See you all in November.

Hallowe'en

No game tonight.
No nothing tonight.
Fucking rats.

11/7/00 3XP

We translated the gang diary, it was about various gang activities in the area, their hands in drug dealing, prostitution and other crimes. At the very end of it is the last entry, the entry said something to the effect of "We have found the motherlode" with "the motherlode" in English.

Later we gave Crusader the diary and we made a copy of it for ourself since it's an important document and clue. Jinkies. TV bore bad news, it seems that the President will be giving out a commendation to Phalanx, the Champions and Starburst. Either there's going to be an assassination attempt on the President or there's going to be something big going down in New Jersey and the cats will be away so the mice will play.

While out on patrol for the evening, Kujaku finds some magical activity going on in a basketball court, I teleport over to check things out while the rest of the team plays catch up. In the basketball court is a little kid with blond hair who has older guys kneeling to him with basketballs floating in mid air. Two of the guys are Glorious Lords. I'm approached from behind by a big green scaly oni that we came across earlier in this campaign. I ducked out of the way and he slashed at me cutting into the roofing.

I was knocked off and Kujaku caught me before I hit the ground and took 20d6 from the fall. Ouch, that would've KO'ed me and I would've taken body as well if the dice maxed out. The basketball becomes oni central and combat ensues. I think I fucked up and I guess I deserved it since it was a touch of metagaming. I leapt at this kid who was the center of attention with my shadowclaws and smeared him. I had thought he was the one who summoned the demons and was something in disguise. OOC someone said he was the necromancer type we ran across before (Kuni Yori for you L5R fans).

Everyone else fought oni, I broke down yelling "NOoOoOoOOo" because I realized I was tricked and stuff. The game was running late and Tim cut it there. Next week: ????

11/14/00 3XP

Tim's been really generous with the XP lately. Anyway, Shadowturtle surrendered to SAT, a cursory investigation showed that the kid he killed was indeed the embodiment of this demonic guy with the porcelain mask of Fu Leng. They released me on my own recognizances and I returned to the team. SAT might call me back in for further questioning.

We went out on patrol and only found Crusader (who had a magical aura) leaping from rooftop to rooftop doing his nightly patrol, we caught up with him and decided we would take out one of the gateways to a safe haven for the Assassin's Guild that Daedelus found out about while talking with Mindlock in the world of the dead. We call SAT and let them know of our intentions, we raise hell on the abandoned spot but the portal to the safehouse is completely turned off and we can't figure out where it lead to much to our dismay.

Next week: More excitement!

There's a reason why this entry's going to be so short, I'm posting pictures of the gamers who take part in Tim's Tuesday game.

11/21/00

No game because it's Thanksgiving Week.

11/28/00 3XP

We went overtime and Buddha let us know that fact because he had work early tomorrow morning. We ended in the middle of a battle that was crucial. I spotted a warehouse along the docks filled with sparking lights and we went to check it out. Ricochet triggered a silent alarm and I got some guy in a grab (muzzled so he couldn't call for help). The captured guy wasn't too forthcoming (he only said they were building farm equipment in the warehouse) and I decided to call Kujaku over to see if she could help get information out of him. When I asked her if she could scan him for magic, all hell broke loose and we discovered that they were robots.

After a protracted battle, we were beginning the next turn and this is where everything stands right now.

  • Mon-Chi
    • 10 END, 10 STUN, -1 BODY
  • Ricochet
    • KO'ed, -25 STUN
  • Daedelus
    • KO'ed, -36 STUN, -4 BODY
  • ShadowTurtle
    • -12 STUN, 48 END, has a haymaker that will land on phase one.
  • Kujaku
    • Full STUN, 41 END
  • Zero
    • KO'ed, -35 STUN
  • Five robots OK
  • One robot KO'ed
  • One crippled robot
  • Phoned Crusader. He may or may not be en route.

There we go, see you all next Tuesday.

12/5/00

Tonight started out with all of us being beaten down by robots then awakening in bondage under the auspices of Mechanon. Apparently Mechanon was posing as Dr. Destroyer and was in on the whole confusion of the two Dr. Destroyers. Whee, that was recursive.

It was just a protracted battle afterwards where it started with us getting gassed in cylinders where we took NND body. Ouch. Daedelus broke out and the other cylinders shattered along with that and we started combat where I beat Mechanon really hard then got whapped across the room where I went invisible. Kujaku went... strange... and became a demon of some sorts which really helped out. Daedelus, Ricochet, Mon-Chi and Zero put up a great fight taking care of the two minions aiding Mechanon and Mechanon himself. The entire team was whittled down more and more and more with each passing segment, phase and turn until it was only me and Oni no Kujaku. Around that time the dice were rolling complete crap. I did a haymaker and got nine ones and two sixes which meant I did seven less body than I would have if I didn't get any ones. Oni no Kujaku got seven ones at one time. Bleargh. Oni no Kujaku saved us all though which is a good thing and she KO'ed Mechanon.

In Newark and around the state, Mechanon's "farm equipment" was taking its toll on everything with only SAT as our only defense. All the other heroes being in Washington. When Oni no Kujaku KO'ed Mechanon it gave SAT a great opening to take out the hovertank farm equipment. Mechanon recovered and escaped. Big pussy.

According to Tim, that was a big battle and crucial to the story. Tim also stated that time is running out in the game and he will be ending it sometime soon. Foo. I thought it might go a little longer, maybe into next February at the very most.

Byebye.

12/12/00

Just got in, Tim announced how much experience we got tonight while I was in the can and as usual the end of the game was very rushed with no time to talk with others.

Tim had something planned but we didn't do it because Ronni came in late (9:30) because her daughter was having a Christmas recital and Brian couldn't make it to the game at all. We did do some stuff.

We contacted SAT, helped them clean up the mess that was made by Mechanon's hovertanks and relayed our story to them with Kujaku filling in the pertinent details since everyone else was unconscious at the time. We hit a stopping point where we could go off on our own and Daedelus and Mon-Chi decided they would go out and see what they could do elsewise. I stayed home and Kujaku stayed home with Ricochet in a bug and Zero languishing upstairs.

Mon-Chi found something interesting in the ruins of a recently burned out building and when he got in there he found Carcarrion who was covered in blood and was saying something about washing the taste out of his mouth. Mon-Chi did the smart thing and went to escape. Daedelus saw the hijinx and grew to 25 meters tall and tried to lay down some kickass on Carcarrion to no avail. Carcarrion thwapped Daedelus with Mon-Chi knocking Daedelus cold and then proceeded to eat Daedelus. Just as Daedelus blacked out he saw energy blasts hitting Carcarrion and he woke up in a stretcher.

He looked to the side and found the worse-for-wear Mon-Chi beside him then saw a bloody stretcher being taken up quickly to a SAT hunter killer. An air agent followed close behind with Crusader's shield.

The rest of the team was contacted back at the base and we converged on the scene but not before getting Ricochet out of the bug, healing the bug of the poisoning by feeding it another bug then putting Zero inside to heal him up by the next game.

Once the team converges at the site, Daedelus tells us the terrible news and that Carcarrion got away down a sewer according to SAT. The chase began in the sewer but he had a ten minute lead on us. Using my knowledge of the Newark sewers, I led them to an outlet to the ocean where we saw a wet strange footprint that was Carcarrion's. I decided to cut open Daedelus' wrist (he has regeneration) and let his blood fall into the ocean to call out Carcarrion.

Carcarrion made his berserk roll by one. The waters were silent. Fuck.

We decided to check out the Russian warehouse, Kujaku took Mon-Chi and jetted over while I teleported in the direction. I looked around for any ships leaving the area and spotted a cargo ship heading towards the horizon. Kujaku took Mon-Chi and went towards the ship. Daedelus and I checked out the docks and found someone unconscious under some 55 gallon drums who ended up being the guy with the mirrored faceplate working with the Russians. I couldn't find any life signs but Daedelus figured out the guy was a robot. I grabbed the guy just in case and Daedelus flew off to the ship to catch up with Kujaku and Mon-Chi.

Kujaku boarded the ship, dropping Mon-Chi on the deck, and commandeered the control room from the captain making the ship go in a tight circle so it didn't reach international waters. Mon-Chi and Kujaku were raising hell until the ship started to list and Kujaku realized the situation and got the ship back on a straight course so the rudder didn't break, let alone the hull. Daedelus finally arrived, looked at some bilingual papers, everything seemed to be in order and Kujaku contacted the Coast Guard to come along and take care of things because this might be a job for SAT eventually.

Everyone came back, SAT took the mechanical man I was watching up to their ship and the game stopped right about there.

12/19/00

Augh. The game started late and there were plenty of interruptions, pleasant interruptions but they were interruptions nonetheless. Back at the base we caught the morning news and it was confirmed that Crusader is definitely dead, murdered by Carcarrion in an abandoned building in Newark sometime after Mechanon's hovertanks were taken out by SAT.

We went to Sanctuary, which was deserted, and toasted Crusader then went over to Asbury Park to see if Carcarrion was there. Daedelus noticed a glimmer of magic in the corner of his eye and everyone hopped out to go investigate. Mon-Chi was bounding along beside us while we drove leaving a trail of blood in hopes of drawing out Carcarrion.

The team discovered a gas station currently under renovation and further investigation showed super secret security cams not unlike the super secret security cams used over in Newark when we busted one of the Assassin Guild's teleport points to safe houses. We immediately called SAT for backup.

Mon-Chi leapt off to find a sewer and found one (he rolled a four) and called me over to get the sewer lid off for him since he's weak. He noticed and pointed out to me some infrared tripwires. I teleported down into the sewer, avoiding the tripwires, and that section was cordoned off while I wandered through the sewers towards the abandoned gas station where I found a sewer grate.

Here's the rub. The last time we went to bust one of these teleportation nodes there was something set up that sprayed salt into these big birdbaths and killed the teleportation magic within them and Daedelus had the bright idea that he would form a wall of force over the pool so that way they wouldn't be destroyed and could be used to go after the Guild and Carcarrion. There are plenty of traps. Ugh.

We coordinated, I would jump invisibly through the grate and then break open a hole in the garage door so Daedelus had line of sight to create the force bubble. I leapt up and broke through the grate and was greeted by 3d6 (I think) penetrating killing attacks. After a few shots I was dead on the floor.

Real dead.

I normally have ten body. I was at negative ten body.

The coroner needs a coroner.

After a few awkward minutes of folks not knowing what was going on inside Zero decided to blast through and a whole world of shit opened up where the shaped charges exploded and the turrets started ripping through everything. Zoiks. They saw a black smear on the wall and a crumpled black mass on the floor along with seeing the salting process begin on the teleport node. Oh fuck.

After a strong firefight, everyone decided to just jump headlong into the pool (Kujaku was nice and carried my melting corpse over to SAT in hopes they might be able to do something. Tim said I have to make up a new character. Cry.) and they vanished. The game ended there.

Whew.

12/26/00

No game this week but I hung out with non-Buddha Rob and Brian. We went to see The Emperor's New Groove.

1/2/01 4XP

Tonight's game started late, again, but it was mostly combat. Ended up going against the associate members of the Assassin's Guild with me playing Char (a skeletal inferno). The team had splashed through the magical pool and came into a lushly decorated area underground in a cavern where four people were enjoying a meal and waited upon hand and foot by lovely servants wearing next to nothing. The team was greeted amicably enough and asked to sit down and wait while the beautiful youth in the throne decided how to help the poor uninvited guests. The team chattered amongst themselves and I barked at them to can it.

After dinner, the gentleman on the throne decided that he would begin to decide how to aid the new arrivals when a serving girl spilled some booze on me. It hurt because Char is nothing but fourth degree burns when he's not in hero mode (for lack of a better term) and I blazed up setting myself on fire and consuming the young servant girl who crumpled into ashes. The prince glared at me, "You ruined my fun!" and combat begun.

There was Raze, a woman who got knocked out early, Lamprey (a vampire), myself and the noble who ended up being a lich. Kujaku went berserk and became her Godagai oni self, Lamprey pounced at Daedelus exclaiming how it's been ages since he had mage blood, I flew into the air to distance myself from the fracas and the young prince just stood quietly by. I forget who knocked Raze down with a well placed shot, it was probably Kujaku or Ricochet. Everyone else lost full actions or 1/2 actions because when I fired up I rolled seven dice and got a 34 for a presence attack. Zero tried whacking me with his strange spatial geometry to no avail. Daedelus was busy with his vampiric friend and Mon-Chi did his best to wrest his friend from the vampire's clutches.

When I saw Oni no Kujaku, I blasted her with my 5d6 RKA for 68 stun and 17 body. Daedelus got shot by a mystic beam in the chest for 50something stun. Zero kept trying to hit me to no avail. Ricochet was busy. I burned Daedelus for lots of stun and knocked him into optionland (minus 21 stun means a character gets up when a gm says they can get up). Oni no Kujaku tore into the lich pretty fucking hard (I was out of range) and then I blasted Zero for being a nuisance but the little indian boy was beaten around but still able to make his next action which was to hit me for 14 dice then send me flying into the wall 14 inches for 14 dice of damage. Char was out of the game.

Mon-Chi hit Lamprey really hard into a chair which broke and staked him. Lamprey went poof. Kujaku KO'ed the lich and Ricochet was looking for a way out and heard Mortar thundering down the hallway. Mortar came in, saw the outcome of the fracas and said some code which sealed the place off. Everyone tried to get their friends back up, even the bad guys. Raze woke up and screamed because she knew what was going to happen. The lich vanished into thin air. Oni no Kujaku grabbed my unconscious form. Raze opened up a wall where there was another magical pool where everyone jumped through in the nick of time as lava started pouring into the room.

On the other side, Raze wasn't there. Everyone else is safe, except for Char who is in the clutches of the team.

Our current status:

  • Daedelus: -24 stun, -2 body
  • Mon-Chi: 19 end, already pushed
  • Kujaku: 15 body, 32 end
  • Zero: 7 body, 26 stun
  • Ricochet: -2 body
  • Char: KO'ed

Kame kage!

1/9/01 2XP

A very exciting night. Everyone appeared at Sanctuary and they took Char up to the medlab to get healed up before being sent over to the authorities. While the team made their way to the lounge to relax after the stressful encounter of last week the primary members of the Assassin's Guild came in. Sid, their manager, came over to the team's table and talked to Daedelus declaring war upon the team for violating the Guild's hideouts and killing one of their members. Daedelus said that we're only out for Carcarrion for the murder of Crusader but Sid was adamant about settling things right then and there in a danger room until there is only one person left standing. Daedelus reiterated his stand and Sid walked away to join his compatriots at a privatized table.

Black Adder, a character I played a while ago, saw the encounter and how ballsy Daedelus was towards the manager of the Assassin's Guild and told him how he liked the cut of Daedelus' jib and by his reputation alone was taken aboard to help hunt down Carcarrion and bring him to justice or have "accidental use of lethal force" take Carcarrion down once and for all.

We went back to the base where they showed me around and how the base is an extradimensional building which is a living bug then asked me to show what powers I had to fight evil. Mon-Chi and I went to the danger room and exchanged some blows, I fired full bore at him after telling him to duck and seriously fucked up the wall which angered the house and sent out bug sentries to dispose of me. Whoops.

I got knocked out and the rest of the team did beatdown on the bugs until Mon-Chi and Daedelus figured out how to turn the danger room on and heal up the wall so the house wouldn't be angry anymore. About that time, we went upstairs and got some shuteye.

There was an exchange in the living room followed by someone waking Daedelus up. Fun that when Shadowturtle knocked at the door the homunculus answered and screamed "ZOMBIE ZOMBIE!!!" and ran inside to wake up Daedelus who was deeply asleep. The homunculus bit Daedelus on the nose to wake him. It was cute.

Shadowturtle's back! He learns that someone was masquerading as Shadowturtle for the past week even though the real Shadowturtle was incarcerated at a SAT base up north. After a talk with Shadowturtle, Daedelus and Kujaku came to the conclusion that the fact that there was a different Shadowturtle working alongside them for the past week was the fulfillment of the third part of the prophecy with the betrayal of the trusting. Side note, I'm just upset that I didn't get a chance to have a scene where someone's on the phone and they hear it's Shadowturtle on the other end. They say "You're joking, Shadowturtle's right behind me" followed by the duplicate Shadowturtle becoming big ugly and demonic.

The team learned that the corpse of the doppelganger Shadowturtle went poof but the corpse was videotaped and Kujaku and Daedelus identified the corpse being that of some shapeshifting demon that does the job really well. After trying to follow up a lead that General Duke (now dead leader of Phalanx) might've been either one of these demons or a robot controlled by Mechanon we went back home and found that Black Adder had left. Nice thing is that once the team left, an earthly signal was able to get into the base waking up Adder, it was the Director telling him to come back to base and he had a new mission to take part in. The Director is not a nice person. Everyone searched the house looking to see if anything was amiss or if Black Adder left a note. No dice. The game was cut there. Tim did state that the next game will be a brief interlude into the world of L5R about our gempukku ceremonies. He claims it'll take two sessions, I figure it'll take a month.

1/16/01 3 XP

Tonight's game was combat training, getting ourselves ready for taking out Carcarrion and handling the Assassin's Guild just in case they come after us like they threatened. After training, Daedelus researched the prophecy that was part of our game and realized that it came to fruition when the Shadowturtle doppelganger failed and the bearer of the mask of Fu Leng's scheme fell to pieces.

Now our team is trying to thwart the prophecy by putting the Bloodscourge away somewhere safe so that way the line of "The good one who wields evil will do more evil than good" will not come to fruition.

This is short because I got in late and I'm pooped, plus it pretty much sums it up. They can't all be Tolstoy.

1/23/01 3XP

Wow.

What a game.

Daedelus turns on the TV to check out the local news and rolls a 3 on his perception and sees Mindlock in the background leaping from rooftop to rooftop. We assemble and head off to the neighborhood where the live coverage was going on in the first place. Kitsune goes off because he thinks he knows where Mindlock went while the rest of us fan out to get a bearing on her. How the heck she came back to life, we'll never know.

I came upon Ravage of the Assassin's Guild in a basement of a building and waited for some backup while Kitsune made eye contact with Mindlock. They stared surprised that they saw each other and then suddenly Mindlock becomes Black Samurai. Back down below, Daedelus gives me the three count and I tear a hole in the wall so he can go rushing in to surprise Ravage. Ravage ended up being an illusion that was covering up some C4 explosive. 16 body, armor piercing. Daedelus is seriously fucked and I only take one body.

Elsewhere, Mon-Chi sees Carcarrion clambering out of a manhole smacking his chops at the thought of eating Mon-Chi and then Daedelus. Mortar sneaks up behind Zero and cacks him hard before starting to go elsewhere on the rooftops. Mon-Chi grabs Carcarrion after a pitiful bite by sharkboy and holds on while Daedelus leaps over to deal out some ass whipping. I don't have enough movement to catch up so I just half move and finish my phase. Kujaku starts to go after Mortar but is interrupted by DetCord. Kujaku beats him down like a red headed stepchild. Mortar goes for cover while Zero tries to recover.

I wind up and jab my shadow talons into Carcarrion's genitals (23 body, 69 stun, he takes 4 body) sending him down. Ravage decides to set my brain on fire which really fucking hurts but I don't go down thank goodness. Mon-Chi gets thrown around against Kujaku who is locked in mortal combat with Black Samurai interrupting their duel. Kujaku is being suppressed by Mortar's fire but Zero gets up and starts nailing Mortar and others so they take the heat off Kujaku.

Mon-Chi comes over to take down Carcarrion again but gets used as a club. Kujaku notices the position of Ravage and bears down on him. I get whacked pretty good but get up and paw at Carcarrion for no negligble damage before my brain gets fried once again. Mortar snipes at Daedelus making Daedelus the first person to enter optionland. Optionland, for non HERO gamers, is when you're unconscious and only revive at the GM's option. Black Samurai decides to come over and kick me while I'm down, ouch, and Kitsune runs after Black Samurai in hopes of getting the edge of surprise. I had the thought of making his chances for surprise even greater by telling Black Samurai "Behind you" in hopes that he would not believe me and completely ignore any attacks from behind.

No fucking luck, Black Samurai gets his full DCV and Kitsune misses by one. So sorry!

My next action is to superleap over to Carcarrion, who has taken a serious beating, and do a movethrough with my last ounce of strength. Sadly, I go fucking unconscious but I take Carcarrion with me. Suck my terrapin cock, sharky.

Back in the world of the conscious, Kujaku is engaging Ravage with Mon-Chi going to help her. She tries to point out that Ravage is RIGHT THERE except Ravage's invisibility is too good for Mon-Chi but Mon-Chi does a smart thing (unlike how Booner always says he's doing something stupid when it really isn't) with an area effect cone (his kamehameha) on Ravage. Bingo! Ravage decides to take control of Mon-Chi and tells Mon-Chi to kill Kujaku. Mon-Chi goes after her and hits once but when he recovers he goes fucking berserk. Zero is still pegging at Mortar and taking care of business over there. As the hour grew later and later and the battle raged on, something happened. Mon-Chi goes unconscious and Kujaku goes berserk because she is the last one standing, as usual.

Lightning filled the air, filling the air entirely focusing on a single point off in the distance sending out a powerful energy wave that hits e v e r y o n e. Everyone takes 69 stun effectively sending them into optionland.

What the fuck was that? We gotta wait two weeks because of the god damned Backstreet Boys concert that Ronni and Diane are attending next Tuesday. AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!

1/30/01 0XP (-1 XP for Backstreet Boys concert)

KIDDING.

Okay. No game tonight but Tim and Brian came over to my house for videos, games and food.

Whee.

2/6/01 0 XP

Know why there was no experience given out tonight? Rob couldn't make it to the game and Tim refused to run the game without everyone being there to take part in the action.

So we just sat around talking about what direction we would like to see the game take after the end of the current game. Diane brought up that she was thinking about running a White Wolf game with elder vampires, regular werewolves and miscellaneous which constitutes changelings, other werecreatures, immortals but no mages. Hurrah.

Tim heard suggestions about what kind of genre to play or what direction people would like the game to take and I mentioned a space campaign or an agent level campaign. He seems to be stubborn about running an agent level campaign and he didn't voice an opinion about a space based campaign. I would like to see Tim run a different campaign setting, even if it is on the same 275 points that he usuall runs games.

That's pretty much it. PLEASE make it to the game next week. It is crucial. Funwise and gamewise. This is for all of you. Maybe people can get there on time like in the old days rather than an hour after eight o'clock.

I spent most of the time playing pokemon gold, I ditched my poliwag and now I'm hunting down a mankey to add to my team because poliwag was just another water pokemon on my team and in the end Lapras would be much better. I replaced the pichu with a mareep who I will evolve into an amphoros. My cheating in the game is now duplicating items like TMs and eventually king's rocks and metal coats. King's rocks and metal coats make opponents flinch from attacks and boost steel attacks respectively. Right now I'm debating on whether or not I should do this with any drugs I find along the way because houndour's defense is atrocious and some iron would definitely help his defense out.

I beat the gym leader in Goldenrod, got rid of the sudowoodo that was blocking off the road and I have a few more things to take care of but I'm putting along merrily. When I get a mankey I'm gonna name it Goku and teach it hyper beam, focus energy, a fighting attack and a defensive move of some sort so he can really be like Goku. The focus energy animation sure looks like a saiyan aura.

2/13/01 0XP

Tim's decided to cancel the game because Diane, Brian and I are getting over from being sick. There's always next week.

Brief refresher: Oni no Kujaku and maybe two guild members were left standing, big white flash of light in the distance followed by a shockwave that knocked everyone into optionland.

Final Game 8XP

For what it's worth, we are now at the 80 point cap for powers.

Tonight was a big battle. Started out with Daedelus being teleported out of Foxbat's bar (that's where people who are disgustingly unconscious go and being offered the Bloodscourge by the bearer of the Mask of Fu Leng but he turns it down. The bearer of the Mask of Fu Leng was trying to screw over the demons and destroy them all. Daedelus appears in the bar and the offered piece of the Bloodscourge is next to his drink. Seconds later, everyone vanishes and returns to the waking world.

We're all encased in living bones, held quite strongly, while the bearer of the Mask of Fu Leng gloats about how the demons shall overrun the earth. Oni no Kujaku breaks out and is welcomed by the mask-wearer. Oni no Kujaku kills the mask-wearer and then a chorus rises among the demons that the final piece of the prophecy has been fulfilled. The betrayal of the trusting.

Now dead, the spell that held the bones together fades and everyone's able to get out and meet the horde of demons rampaging through Newark. Most of the Assassin's Guild scamper off because they value their asses, only Black Samurai remained behind to swipe at the lead oni Kyoso no Oni. With the help of Oni no Kujaku (no relation), Black Samurai is able to take down the ichor ridden bitch. Mon-Chi decides that he's going to go to Professor Mystic's place to retrieve the Bloodscourge, heroic fellow that he is.

Shadowturtle goes off to save innocent civilians from the demon hordes, killing demons and saving the non-combatants for quite a while. Zero takes out demons from afar and Daedelus holds his own against the greater demons that are approaching him.

Black Samurai then takes Ricochet on in hand to hand combat. Mon-Chi returns with the remaining pieces of the Bloodscourge which Daedelus puts together to use for closing up the portal to the realm of demons that only he and Kujaku can see. With Ricochet out of the way, Black Samurai decides that he's going to take care of Daedelus while the gettin's good but Black Samurai's whacked from behind by a shadowy figure so Daedelus can continue with his incantations to close the portal. Sadly Daedelus is knocked unconscious and the only person who can close the portal is Kujaku.

Kujaku takes up the Bloodscourge and tries to pick up where Daedelus left off but to no avail, stumbling a few times. The demons around me start going back towards the group's fight because their interdimensional portal is closing and they want to stop that. I leap after them to help my friends now that the civilians are safe enough. Kujaku tries again and again with the Bloodscourge and incantation and gets the portal to start closing but not fast enough.

Professor Mystic arrives, he helps Kujaku close the portal (Diane kept rolling fifteens on her occult roll). The portal closes, Black Samurai runs off like a little girl because he got a serious beating and that's almost it.

I check to see if Zero is dead, he's bleeding like fucking crazy, and he's close to death. I teleport him back to the base and get him into the regeneration bug in the nick of time. Whew.

Next week, the denounment followed by discussing the ins and outs of the L5R RPG along with whomever will be submitting characters for Diane's upcoming World of Darkness campaign.

Denounment ?XP

For those of you who are interested in playing a vampire, I posted the elder rules from the Elysium book gathered from a web site on the new page that will feature diane's game.

Tonight's game was just Diane going over the setting for her game and everyone playing with the dots to create their vampire character. Later on I gently reminded everyone that next week we would be starting up L5R (we won't be because tonight we did Diane's preparations) and Tim discussed the world and the rules.

Lastly, I'll be updating the page for Diane's game tomorrow because it's past three a.m. right now and bedtime sounds really good.

Other Game Stuff

3/1/01

Buddha was kind enough to send me the epilogue for his character Daedelus. If you want to read the most recent gaming diary entry, which isn't that great, it's on the other page.

Daedelus would remain on the team, though his first priority would be to settle the debt owed and find Carcarrion. Without the Bloodscourge influencing him, he would no longer be seeking his death, but rather would turn him into the authorities. However, there would always be a part of him that sought the staff. Though he wasn't the only one seeking reunion, for the staff itself would try to find its way back to him.

Nightmares of the torture of his father in the realm of the Dead would haunt him for some time after the encounter. Only the influence of the Staff was able to suppress these dreams, though without it, he is at their mercy. His sorrow for his father only acts to redouble his efforts to find a way to free him, acquiring tomes and libraries on the beast Shuma Gorath and on the magics of the various planes and realms of the universe. Though vastly beyond his knowledge as of now, Daedelus knows that in time will come understanding, and with understanding will come the wisdom to wield this power properly.

And if he ever does find the Staff of Bloodscourge again, he'll be far more disciplined to use it then he originally was. Though, for now he is content, for a few years after the encounter with he who wore the Porcelain Mask of Fu Leng, he recovered his father's Pentacled Staff, and now works to defeat evil, as though always watched by his father's spirit.

3/2/01

Ronni sent in Kitsune's ending.

Ricochet's Finale

Kitsune would stay with the team to aid Daedalus in capturing Carcarrion and do what he could to aid in the search for BloodScourge. Since magic isn't his forte, he'd mostly be there for moral support.

He would stay in the USA until his work visa expired (which means after 5 years in America, he would have to return to Japan for a year and then re-apply for another 5-year work visa - this is Real Life stuff I got from HR people who hire foreigners that don't want to be US citizens but want to work in the US).

Once back in Japan, his brother Kenichi, who had been subtly keeping an eye on Kitsune all the while he was in America, would immediately seize him the moment he set foot in Japan. Kitsune's wish to devote himself to his reaearch would come to pass, but it would be at the cost of forever losing his superhero status. Ricochet would be no more. Kitsune would be enmeshed so deeply into the Black Ops reaearch area of Viper that none of his former allies would ever be able to find him.

3/3/01

Here's my denounment for Shadowturtle.

If the team does stay together, Shadowturtle would stay on the team and continue to bust heads and mete out justice for New Jersey and anywhere else the team would go.

But if the team breaks up and everyone scatters to the four winds, Zero succumbing to his Native American alcoholic legacy, Kujaku shaking her thing in topless clubs and shifting into oni form when someone rips her off, Daedelus eventually moving on to Vegas, Kitsune getting deported to be a lab rat back in Japan and Mon-Chi starts hosting a children's cartoon show with puppets, Shadowturtle would probably go back to being a vigilante in Newark, keeping the smaller neighborhoods that the police are slow to respond to free of crime and occaisionally joining up if some superpowered menace begins thundering through the now war-torn streets of Newark, NJ.

As for Mr. Black, it's high time that he finally reveals his true identity to the appropriate people back at the morgue, express how he did not abuse his secret identity to change any autopsy reports for favors or cash. Hopefully they would allow him to resign and he would try to get a job as coroner with Special American Tactics (SAT).

3/6/01

And now what you've all been waiting for... Mon-Chi's ending!!!!

Mon-chi spends three more years of his life as a crime fighter. During this time his body, mind and personality becomes more and more consumed by the hidden serpent DNA within his body. He develops the strength of an anaconda and a contact poison that destroys iron and the blood cells that carry it.

With these new powers, SAT feels that it is better to keep Mon-chi off of the streets but, they find that they need to go back to the drawing board. The armor that resists his poisonous attack is too slow to keep up with him and the armor that is speedy is easily crushed. Fourteen encounters with SAT, six air agents, three Turtle agents and one hover vehicle with crew (yes folks... DEAD agents) caused Mon-chi to rise to the top of the most wanted list.

Mon-chi's last words as the hover vehicle is going down, "Cool, this stuff is strong.... what are you looking at, punk?!!"

Oh yeah, tonight's game was just L5R character creation.

Nope, no game today but I made the following poster based on something I passed to Rob during last Tuesday's game.

5/4/00

Rob (super genius) made up this card, click on it to view the enlarged picture with easy-to-read text.

Why must I be surrounded by frickin' onis?

I'm hoping to have some of the cards done by next week. Honest!

5/7/00

I had a highly amusing thought and I wanted to share. I'm not putting it into my journal because only a few people would get it.

I might be stretching things a bit here but DexCon (or was it DefCon?) a whole shitload of years ago was the opening game for my life up to now. That's where Brian met Deanna, where we met Tim and all that kinda stuff. Of course there were the characters who decided to put each other into their backgrounds so they could start off as a group. Brian, myself, and Ronni (Ed doesn't count, he was just an NPC and he made too much money to be part of this game. Apparently the game master thought it was wise to refuse our players to purchase the wealth perk) went there, hung around, gamed at the LARP. From there, gaming began in earnest. With each succeeding adventure we had different campaigns. The "Let's Start a LARP" campaign that ended badly, twice. The changing of GMs campaign that followed the adventures of our group from Ed, to Dave who started out well enough only to dissolve into Ty & Stephanie ass kissing and obscure plots to the current Tim renaissance. Having our down time between campaigns being the bitching between players about other players or GMs, going to the diner and all that.

Of course, I was hardly a central character because I would abruptly leave or no longer be able to play in the games because of my temper (Psych Lim: Short Tempered Common, Strong). Getting caught up in my own life sometimes. Brian has the subplot of his relationship with Deanna (which used to be the triangle between Brian, Deanna and balding elderly wench). Ronni has her DNPC of Caitlin and what I perceive to be her interesting capacity to introduce gamers to The Game. Tim 'Fuckwit' Lenox, Rob, Eric and such. Tim has been raised to team leader, of sorts, since he's GM'ing. Rob, Booner, Diane are all relatively new characters who are active in all scenarios.

Silly thought that hit me, perhaps we are just the new characters of the old gaming group. Brian and Ronni being the only crossover characters. Whoever played Graeme is playing someone else, whoever played Lori is playing someone else (mind you, Lori is in another game so whoever is not in the game she's playing in is probably the second character).

This is breaking up. Maybe I'll refine this later, but I'll post it in its raw form.

8/22/00

No game today!

I decided to fill up space with The Tuesday Night Drinking Game!

1 Drink

  • Drink when Buddha belches.
  • Drink when Brian says "subtlety" or "subtle".
  • Drink when Brian or I get a warning.

2 Drinks

  • Drink when someone gets a warning
  • Drink when Ronni gets an above average roll and delcares it to be 'crap'.
  • Drink when someone brown-noses Tim and he tells people to cut it out.
  • Drink when Tim says "When last we left our intrepid adventurers" or some variation thereof.

3 Drinks

  • Drink when I lose an experience point.
  • Drink when my character is put out of commission for not being in ShadowTurtle form.
  • Drink whenever Zero/Kujaku go off by themselves (nudge nudge wink wink or when it's not nudge nudge wink wink).

4 Drinks

  • Drink when I gain an extra experience point.
  • Drink when Booner's on-time.
  • Drink when someone gets two warnings.

5 Drinks/Chug

  • Drink when Deanna shows up.
  • Chug if she actually plays.

9/10/00

I wrote myself up in Champions rules. Check it out.

Where are the Toons Now? is a fun site where you can learn what happened to toons like Superman, Plasticman and the Smurfs! It's fun.

Stuperpowers is a silly site that is in the same vein as "How to be a Superhero" which Brian has passed around the gaming table many times in the past. Click the link and check it now!

A brief note from the game master.

Just to remind you all that players need permission to use experience, ESPECIALLY to buy off disads. Just in case anyone forgot.

I don't have much of a history on Shadowturtle and Shadowturtle really doesn't know too much about himself either. When I have a decent idea of his origin, I'll post it here but until then all you gotta know is he's a vigilante who wants to try the straight and narrow. He has a day job as the coroner for Newark. Unfortunately it's not good for his head because he has to see the same dead bodies he saw earlier that day and it doesn't sit well in his psyche.
