Good news. Lee is going to be visitng me for the Easter weekend. We plan on attending mass at Catholic, Protestant, Pentecostal and Baptist churches. We'll be singing songs about Jesus, asking pedestrians to join our prayer circle and taking the road less travelled as we explore the Centennial state anew!
Akshuly we're probably going to have lots of 'intimacy' and go out to eat when we find ourselves dehydrated by our exertions.
Bad news.
My employer is requiring all employees to take five days of furlough between now and June in order to stay afloat. Funny that since our department is the only one which shows itself being in the black and everyone else is in the red. The days can be taken at any time which means that I'll be on furlough while Lee is in Colorado Springs!
The other good news is that our department most likely will not have to take mandatory furlough since the department popped into existence back in November 2008 and there's a posted memo saying "Hired after October 2008? You're exempt!" Still our manager says she's going to see about us voluntarily taking the time off from work. I've signed up for 4/9 and 4/10!
Anyone who is anyone and has been a long-time reader of heptapod.org knows that I never shy away from personal days regardless if they are paid or unpaid days off from work.
Still my job is rock solid until November.
Still with the onset of slumber I was beset upon by those anxieties. This dream was fuelled entirely by them.
At the wheel I was careening down a long and winding road in the middle of a forest. The sun was low in the sky and everything was suffused with the gray-blue light of dusk. As the shadows deepened I went faster and migrated into the other lane meant for oncoming traffic which only served to make my foot even heavier on the pedal. Eventually I reached a red light for which I returned to the proper lane and came to a full and complete stop.
When I glanced into the rear view mirror I saw there were three cop cars about a half mile behind me coming to a stop. This had my attention and I watched as they screeched to a halt in a roadblock formation. Most got out acting all keyed up and ready to drag my sorry ass from the vehicle for some beatings. Funnily and mercifully they didn't know their quarry was way ahead of them and making a cautious getaway.
When I awoke I knew the dream was a manifestation of my anxiety.
