There's something to be said about consistency. No surprises. Just reliability.

Considering the piss-poor state of the Republic's economy and the fact that I want to go back to school and get my degree on my own time and my own dime staying with my current source of income is a wise decision.

I have begun the process of creating a patch for NetHack which will implement platypodes in the game. The diff patches just fine but when I attempt to recompile everything collapses on itself and craps out in a spectacular fashion.

I haven't a clue what I've done and gone wrong with the process.

Maybe it's panicking because I haven't made tiles for the platypodes. I need to read up on how to include these tiles and maybe then it'll end up running just right.

Anyway here's the preliminary icon for a platypus in NetHack. The other two platypodes will be based off of this icon. Also the other two platypodes are the giant platypus and the wooly platypus. A wooly platypus is cold resistant and has a confusing gaze. I'd like to imagine the latter beast as having tusks but tusks on a creature with a bill is plain silly.

I was pondering the entire race for President of the Republic of the United States of America at lunchtime. My thoughts went back to 2000 when Florida was counting hanging chad, Gore had ceded the race to Bush only to come back and call shenanigans on Bush Jr. bringing the fiasco to the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

Twenty twenty hindsight is wonderful but it's also a curse. My first impression was that Bush and Gore knew that there was something big on the horizon and it could certainly make their career as President of the United States of America (POTUS).

Some arabs came along, flew planes into the WTC, the Pentagon and a rural area out in Pennsy, the Patriot Act was rushed through Congress and laid the foundation for a police state as the USA chased after shadows and phantom terrorists while treating citizens like criminals as if citizens were the cause for 9/11 rather than people who knew how to play the system and legally stay in the USA.

Long story short, shitsux in what is colloquially known as America.

Considering the fact that what's-his-face, crybaby POW, has a snowball's chance in hell of ascending to POTUS the only race worth following is between the two remaining Democratic candidates.

I really, really want to believe that somehow one of these numbskulls actually has a plan for getting the USA back on its collective feet and that's why they're in the midst of a nasty campaign against each other because each candidate truly believes they have the best cure.

Sadly they're so hell bent for leather to become POTUS because it simply means power and the prestige of being the first POTUS of their kind i.e. first black President or first female President.

Makes me wish that voting for Ron Paul wasn't throwing my vote away but as things stand I reckon it's the only answer.
