On Friday night I rode my bike for the first time in a long time. By my reckoning I haven't gone on a bike ride since May 2007.

Being back in the saddle was quite a feeling for me. First thing I noticed is the fact that my thighs kept hitting my fat belly as I was pedalling along the road. The thought of riding my bike for an hour every day crossed my mind in hopes of at least being fitter and maybe losing some weight or perhaps offsetting my diet.

We'll see about that in good time.

Anyway I spent some quality time quietly reading Stranger in a Strange Land at the Birdhouse while Jaybird decompressed from a hectic work week. I wanted to get home so I could have some time with raddidge but her brothers set up the movie stuff in the basement. I don't know what they're going to be watching tonight.

There are several things I want to accomplish this weekend. First I want to figure out how to get FreeBSD to read my CDs and USB mass storage devices. I know the operating system is detecting their presence but I haven't puzzled out how to read the files so I can futz with them. Besides that with my folly of playing with a non-Windows operating system is getting a GUI up and running then making BSD acknowledge my winmodem.

Once that's done I'm going to wipe the disk, install Windows and see about getting both operating systems to cohabitate on one hard drive.

Among my errands are having my car undergo an oil change and then find out if Pikes Peak Community College's admissions office has hours amenable to working stiffs so I can register and begin pursuing a degree and the potential for a better and more productive life.
