So I'm torn between wanting to play a halfling monk and a halfling sorcerer.

I've never realized that halflings were such a cool race. They're more than being hairy footed midgets or some pervert's greatest fantasy become legal. My monk would mostly use his sling, having the point blank shot feat, to take care of his opponents eventually acquiring the weapon finesse feat to add his dexterity bonus to damage rather than having to rely on his average (for a big person) strength.

On the other hand there's the halfling sorcerer. He would be a challenge since I presume he'd end up being the face for the team. Charisma is the primary stat for sorcerers just in case you didn't know because you have a life and a girlfriend. I am not a very social person and for the past four months I've been really avoidant when it comes to socialization. Sure I've received a rush of confidence now that I have a presentable smile but I still don't know how to smile nor make eye contact. Both gestures are defined by me as being unnecessarily aggressive especially eye contact. Eye contact always means I'm going to start a fight and walk away from it. Taking that into account I'm sure, gentle reader, you can figure out why that's such a stretch for me.

As for spells I figure that they would mostly be electrical and spidery in nature. Casting shocking grasp, spider climb and eventually web and lightning spells. Since the halfling sorcerer would be neutral good I'd play up the whole being a generally good person to the hilt. Perhaps beyond the scope of parody.

spells
If I do decide to play a sorcerer I need to figure out what spells to have for him to cast in-game. Shocking grasp and spider climb seem like good choices. I dunno, I might not choose those spells.

Bah, I hate having to think about how to outwit and foil the game master by preparing ahead of time and metagaming which spellcasters require in spades.

I might end up playing a monk.

gratitude
I would like to thank Etoile, of LambdaMOO fame, for assisting me. For a while I've been wanting to have my own RSS feed for heptapod.org. She graciously went ahead and created a screen scraper for heptapod.org so now more people can experience heptapod.org.
okay
First I was really psyched about playing my halfling monk. The idea of a halfling sorcerer was still intriguing to me especially with the whole bug/electricity motif I was going to pursue with the character. In the end Jaybird wanted to be a fighter rather than a spellcaster so I decided I was going to play Oscar Tealeaf the halfling sorcerer.

In two weeks the game will begin in earnest.

one thing
Y'all might think my color scheme is pretty dumb but I consider it to be an integral part of the site and experience which is heptapod.org. The screen scraper / RSS dealy is just plain old text. If the headers were bigger than the rest of the text then I would say it was enough but it's plainly obvious that I have terrible text layout or something's missing which actually makes my layout seem good and intriguing.
oneiromancy
Lately I've been feeling ambivalent about my dreams. I'll rush to write them down, get distracted and them come back to them at the worst possible moment where I'll want to get it over and done rather than futzing around, trying to see if I really should be using the past imperfect or pluperfect in addition to escritorial acrobatics to avoid repeating the same damned word at the top of each sentence.

There was much more to last night's dream but the only thing that survives was encountering Louis Farrakhan. He looked more like the messenger from the beginning of 300. I knew it was Farrakhan because his hair was put up to be a natural kufi. When I approached him I saw that cancer had spread through him. His eyes were white with pink areas like areola and within that pink area were even smaller, black pinlike eyes gazing in all directions.

I just don't remember anything else from the dream.
