One thing that I bemoaned about society was regarding music. How is it that music went from the sweet rendition of "If I Didn't Care" by The Ink Spots to "Get Low" as performed by Lil Jon with the lyrics "skeet skeet skeet"?
For those of you playing along at home skeet is an urban euphemism for male ejaculation.
There's something seriously wrong with the world or I'm getting very old.
Now look at the inhabitants of Innsmouth. Large eyes, no chin, flat faces. Of course they have narrow heads which are decidedly piscine. Still there's a resemblance between the two. Most sketches of people who are to become deep ones tend to be more anuran in appearance which is nowhere close to the typical anime/manga style.
Sometimes late at night I respond, "I'm going to school to learn rather than to validate my knowledge and beliefs."
The idea of school being a forum to validate and acknowledge the sum of my education is a fallacy. This error was engendered and perpetuated by pursuing a degree in Fine Arts. People in Fine Arts already knew how to draw, knew how to design things, understood the vagaries of negative space and contrast. These students were simply paying for a piece of paper rather than learning a subject.
Pursuing a degree in fine arts is the height of vanity. Art instructors only act as glorified babysitters and accountants who say "lulz u pass" because their students have already proven themselves to be capable in their course of study.
Of course there's the irony that once someone graduates with their BFA they realize the only job openings available are cab #3883, engaging elderly gentlemen for an evening's entertainment at popular prices and trying to figure out how to make the light moody enough to evoke the angst personified by a tube of toothpaste.
