oh yeah
I finished that short story weeks ago. What a disappointment. Setting everything up, establishing a motif and suddenly it's a god damned mary sue story about how the protagonist is necessary to stop the end of the world. Towards the end it's just the author going "LOOK AT THESE AWESOME CHARACTERS!!! HE'S REALLY CAIN BUT SPELLS IT KANE!!! ZOMG SATAN TWO!!!!1111eleventy", a shot of a post-apocalyptic London and stops right there.
Fuck. Let me say it again, "Fuck".
A damned shame as well since Mr. Wagner also wrote "The River of Night's Dreaming" which was awesome.
