Ilsa the dwarven, chaotic, male valkyrie reached the plane of water. The ascension run was going fine until the plane of fire. Several archons appeared and began summon storms much to her chagrin. At this point, level 25 with 310 hit points, the summoned monsters simply got in her way rather than being cause for any alarm. Eventually she killed a cockatrice, grabbed the corpse and swung it around stoning monsters until she was able to get free of the crowd.

On the elemental plane of water she killed all the water elementals, the various fishes and snakes and spent the greater part of her time looking for the god damned portal to the astral plane. The Dev Team, in their infinite wisdom, has decided that the portal will float around on the plane of water. So I got bored, I figured that Ilsa was underwater and he would no longer need her ring of levitation.

Ilsa removed the ring and fucking drowned.

I was so fucking close to ascending a chaotic, male valkyrie so I would never, ever have to play the valkyrie class ever again! Why chaotic? Valkyries tend to be lawful (dwarven) or neutral (human). All valkyries are female at the start of the game. NetHack has an amulet of change which changes the gender of the player's character. Plus valkyrie is the easiest class and recommended for anyone who is new to NetHack. Since it's so easy I decided to make it difficult by defeating the quest leader, retrieving the Bell of Opening and the Orb of Fate, sacrificing a white unicorn on a chaotic altar making Ilsa irrevocably chaotic then changing gender to begin the ascension run.

Fuck. I'm all burnt out on NetHack now.

besides that
I acquired a few books for gaming purposes. One was a really good find and I was very lucky.
now you're cooking
On Saturday I cooked two pounds of chicken breasts in the oven. I poured red pepper, black pepper and Lowry's seasoned salt in addition to a third of a bottle of lemon juice. A little more than one hour at 400 degrees wrapped in foil and the chicken came out pretty good. Seems a bit dry but I chalk that up to the chicken staying in the fridge for a couple days and being really cold.
