Saturday was not really remarkable considering my uneventful life. I bought a card table so everyone could game outside rather than suffer heat and humidity at our beloved hosts's home The Birdhouse. About thirty minutes into the game it started to rain. Makes me feel like I'm a character in an O. Henry tale.

the plant

Saturday I checked on the plant, removed a dead leaf that eluded me and watered it. Of course it fucking rained after I watered the poor little plant. Unless it gets really hot, reckon I won't water the plant until Thursday. All I wanted to do was ensure the plant's leaves were moist.

Inside the Game Master's Studio

One of the most awkward moments in any game is when the GM expects the players to proceed with their plans. Yet the players believe the game master has to give his blessing or there's one more story up his sleeve.

The past two games I've been wearing my conductor's cap. For the uninitiated I've been railroading various plots in the game. I believe that my railroading, for the sake of the game, has been a detriment. Now the players seem to look at me in the hopes I'll tell them where to go next so I can continue telling the story that they're mere observers rather than participants.

Plus lately I've been too busy looking at the other players, hoping to read their reactions so I can tell if they're having fun or not. I'm sitting on my laurels, I have 700 pages of a story and we're only partway through the game. Feel free to guess what I define as "part-way", gentle reader and gentle player.

While it was raining with the thunderbolts and lightning and very very frightening I wished that I was up at the compound sleeping in my tent or in the camper with raddidge listening to the sound of the rain on the tent and the wind in the aspens.

maribou was asleep and dreamt of a car falling on her. Sometime in the dream she actually got up and was sleep-crawling around on the bed. Jaybird woke up and maribou was panicked saying that he was trapped under a car.
