So the phone guy came around today. Instead of coming between 9:15 and 1:15, he first showed up at 8:38 a.m.. Fortunately he left a number and came back around noontime. He used his equipment to check the line, says everything looks okay.
First he says that it may be my telephone. Not the phone line, not the socket, not the phone box. My telephone. I explained to him I have three phones, a regular telephone when the cordless conks out and my modem. He looked further, decided to change out the old phone plug in my bedroom with a new one and figured that would get the job done. As he left he said "If the problem persists then it's your phone. Not our line."
Well Jaybird let me come over and test my regular phone and my modem. After he turned off his DSL, I was able to get online with the same, uninterrupted and slow connectivity I'd normally expect with dialup rather than having tons of pages taking too long to load or the server's not responding messages. Plus when I left a minute long nonsense message on my voicemail there was no static or interruption.
Qwest says someone will come out tomorrow to further investigate the situation.
I'm sincerely hoping that the drama at work was a one time deal and as long as I remain quiet and do my job I won't have anything to worry about as an employee. Monday the Eighth will be the proof in the pudding, also if they have me sign up for health insurance which I will do despite my miserly side screaming that it'll lead me to the poorhouse.
Plus I'll probably schedule a week's vacation in May so I can have surgery on a Monday and spend the rest of the week in convalescence.
