One of the joys in maintaining heptapod.org was being able to download the raw logs and see who has been visiting the site. Recently there's been a change and I haven't received a satisfactory answer. Now site logs only cover an hour or maybe a day instead of being generated on a monthly basis.

The attention whore inside of me wants validation and not just for my parking.

children of men
maribou treated Jaybird and I to a movie on Tuesday. We went to see Children of Men which is currently in limited release. How it got out to the sticks and rocks of Colorado Springs I will never comprehend. All three of us really liked the movie. When I got home I gave a succint review to raddidge since she enquired regarding Tuesday's movie.

Children of Men is the movie that V for Vendetta aspired to be. V for Vendetta, as presented by the Wachowski Brothers, was earnest and preached about imminent dystopia the ending was completely stupid, stank of Hollywood and being told "tone it down".

Understand that the premise of the movie is merely a vehicle for the message regarding unspoken concerns about current politics. V for Vendetta left me feeling embarassed for being a fellow traveller. In short the story is "Only a crazy man would want freedom!" V for Vendetta did more for advocating an Us vs. Them mentality rather than "We're all in it together" philosophy. If you're new to heptapod.org I am a proponent of the latter sentiment. It's always good to know the enemy but one never knows if there may be common ground that can further a cause which is better for the world at large. Selflessness is one of the most important virtues of existence. Consider Asaji the monk who gave himself to a litter of wolf cubs and their mother so they may be fed. Consider the rabbit who did not know how to feed the starving man and threw herself into the fire so the man could eat that night. This is the path to sainthood.

Sadly I don't know the secular equivalent of sainthood and even if I did find such a term and use it, most people wouldn't understand or pass me off as being pretentious or email me asking "Why didn't you just say sainthood?"

I really liked Children of Men. As trite as it may sound I think this is one of the best movies of 2007 and 2007 hasn't even gotten underway yet.

In Yer Dreams
I had to go to the supermarket. My father had barely survived being assaulted by a vampire. According to the authorities the only reason why he survived was the fact that he was a latent vampire. After all this time he had been a nightstalker, a bloodkin, nosferatu, © White Wolf Game Studios. J/K.

He was waiting for me in the produce section among the oranges. I didn't see any difference, he was still my dad and I still loved him. We left out the back way to avoid any unfortunate encounters. A long, glass-enclosed hallway led far into the distance. Outside it was gray and rainy. A slick gray lake marred by stray sunshine was the only feature.

Suddenly there was an opening in the clouds and a circle was punched through the layer, expanding quickly and revealing it was a sphere rather than a two dimensional phenomena. People were ducking and covering while my father stood transfixed at the sight. "The nukes aren't reaching the ground. Just terror tactics." Soon all the electricity would be out and the land would be thrust into a dark age.
