You may have noticed in the past couple of weeks that I have been brief in my entries. I phoned my parents on Wednesday night and figured out what may be one of the causes. Apparently I'm preoccupied with running Asbury Park by Night in addition to managing the stress of my job.
dad
My father told me that he's writing a book. He's already written a joke book, unpublished and I have two copies of the MS in my apartment, and I hope this one gets published. It's about cars, one of his many loves in life. A historical book.
superheroes
Since work is slow and management is keeping everyone for a full day, I've been thinking about a superhero campaign. Only last week I was bemoaning the fact that I didn't have any decent plots or storylines for that genre of game. Now I have the major storyline in addition to the running threads in the tale. I've already told Jaybird and maribou the premise of the story but nothing else and I'd like to keep it that way.
Reckon that working on other games keeps my creativity lively and keeps me running Asbury Park by Night. For those of you who play in the game I'm not tired of running the game at all! Far from it.
And to think that I used to be wary of the role of gamemaster and now I've taken to it like a duck to water.
In Yer Dreams
Late one night I attended a Hallowe'en party. It was inside an old gasoline station that was lit only by Christmas lights. I couldn't see any of the people but I knew they were old friends from long ago. The kind of folks you see once every twenty years, catch up for five minutes over a drink then realize there's a reason why you haven't seen them for so long. Of course it wasn't that annoying but just expected of everyone attending the party. I remember standing under the awning by some pumps, shooting the shit and feeling happy and at home.
