The story mentioned in yesterday's entry is The Battle of York by James Stoddard. Just in case you were interested in it.
thunder
One of the joys of living in Colorado Springs is thunderstorm season. Starting around three or four p.m. there will be storms moving over the city. Back east these tempests would be rare, once a month when the season is right, but from late July to the end of August the air is alive with lightning and the menace of thunder.

Last Tuesday during the twice-weekly torture session at Cassius's place we were surprised at the intensity of the thunder. Thunder cracked in succession mere seconds after the original peal. Of course each storm has at least one boom which will shake a house. Truly astounding. Of course there will be many inches of rain in the span of a few hours and come sunrise the ground will only be moist rather than soaked through like a swamp.
