9/11 NEVAR FORGET
Gentle reader,
heptapod.org will be on a brief hiatus during the period between 9/15/06 through 9/24/06. The one half of the editorial staff will be in New Jersey while the other half of the editorial staff will be relaxing at an exclusive resort just outside of Denver, Colorado.

There may be intermittent updates at LiveJournal.

heptapod.org thanks you for your understanding and continued support.

The Birdseses have a lot of garden gnomes. You can read the sordid tale at Jaybird's livejournal.
welp
Since I've heard many horror stories about people bringing laptops along on planes, I'm leaving my computer at home. The camera will be accompanying me on my trip along with two memory sticks where I'll store my pictures. Unfortunately I can only store 199 hi-rez photos on my camera's memory card and I have no idea if I'll be taking more photos back east.

These pictures were taken on the sly early Saturday evening. Jaybird did mention he was going to have photos of his gnomish army uploaded for everyone's enjoyment. I took it upon myself to sneak into their backyard while they were out and snap a bunch of pictures. Sadly the batteries gave out before I felt I was done. There will be more photographs in the future.

Note that the fallen gnomes are casualties from the raccoon incursion of 9/8/06. NEVAR FORGET

strange lights
On Saturday night, around eight thirty, I saw strange lights on Pikes Peak. These were well above the treeline and I knew they weren't houses. Click the image for the high resolution image.

The lights in question are on the upper left hand side of the image. You can see them better in the larger image.

Reckon they're lights from the cars of the cog railway. I was unaware and I'm still unaware if the cog railway runs at night.
