Praise for heptapod.org.

maribou, neighbor and friend, said that yesterday's review of Pandora's Star was one of the better reviews she's read. Note that maribou works for a used book store and reads lots of book reviews including tons of books.

loser
At the moment I really want to be an underachiever. The whole week I've been slacking and I'm ending up as a top performer in the company. After all this time, I just want to be a runner up. An also-ran. Seriously, there's got to be something more than this work.

So I figure I'm probably going to be typecast by any potential, future employer. Somehow I'll hit my salary ceiling and forever toil at having a small nest egg but never being financially independent of society at large.

As you may or may not know, all I want out of life is to live someplace far from people where there's nothing but peace and quiet.

Needless to say, I'm afraid of the prospect of looking for a new job.

The other night I downloaded Celestia. I figured it would be something interesting to play around with. Shit, from all the accolades on the internet I figured this might very well be the Starry Night killer.

The biggest knock I have against Celestia is the fact that it fucking crashed my computer when I decided to go full screen. Fucking piece of shit open source crap.

Next was the whole viewing everything from orbit feature. Apparently Celestia doesn't allow me to see how the night sky looks from my location like Starry Night Backyard. GNU/apologists say that Celestia isn't planetarium software. Meh, I don't find it useful.

increasing senility
Arcturus has been lighting the eastern skies with the advent of spring. My senility has been mistakenly calling that star Canopus even though Canopus isn't visible from Colorado by any stretch of the imagination. Every night I go out, I make a point to say "Arcturus" out loud to break that lazy habit.
