On Monday morning there was a black squirrel on the fence near Alaska Lady's house. Usually the squirrels can be spotted at the soccer field across the way. This was the first time I ever saw them that far from the Colorado College campus. It always makes me happy when I see a black squirrel.

The first five renditions were cute. After that, I started cursing Judy Garland's bones.

Fragments. I was attempting to translate the songs of Russian whales. Not only were they whales, baleen whales, but they also sang in a whale song that was Russian. Eventually the stress and thinking woke me out of a sound sleep minutes before the alarm went off.
