Mischief Night
Regarding yesterday's entry, here's a post regarding the science behind those blue toilet tablets.
mischief night
Jaybird knows this day as Devil's Night, having suffered in Detroit until his subsequent relocation. He laughs at my name for October 30th saying it's awfully gay. Thing is that there's a marked difference between mischief like eggs and toilet paper and burly hoodlums burning down homes and shooting cars "just 'cause".

I must remember to bring in everything for safekeeping for Sunday and Monday night.

sad news
The joy of victory over a lazy toilet was severely tempered by the news that raddidge wouldn't be coming down this weekend. She acquired a new computer for $250 with her brother and they're setting it up. Right now she's excited and wants to get everything in order. My evening is going to consist of alcoholism and gluttony.

Sigh.

How am I going to break the news to Spot?

disappointing news
One of the sites I regularly visit is The Anomalist which covers all things strange and Fortean. A while ago they featured a story about the remains of enormous remains found in Iran along with several other strange stories about great beasts and their bones. The site's name? Giantology. While reading it, I figured I'd email the guy and tell him about Shadow of the Colossus. Never heard back, no big deal.

Now it turns out this is may be some manner of viral marketing scheme for Shadow of the Colossus. Cite #1, Cite #2 and Cite #3. Thinking about it in this sense is kinda neat, as if Ico and Shadow of the Colossus take place in some Hyborean age. Yet having the doubt that site is really a shill upsets me.

First and foremost, the site's registered to some guy in Illinois, not Sony. Not a surprise since these people tend to have two brain cells. There are plenty of cites regarding big companies buying little people to astroturf for them. Secondly most of the stories are spurious and have not been covered anywhere else besides Giantology.

I will humbly rescind these opinions if it turns out that Strange Magazine, Fortean Times among other periodicals have second and third party sources which cite these huge stories.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to buy dinner and booze then play... Shadow of the Colossus. A game that I bought because I was so enchanted by Ico and didn't need to be sold on it.

elegy for ology
Sure are a lot of sites out there with the -ology suffix. Heck, the very first domain that I registered was raisinology.net. If you have to ask, I'm not going to tell less'n you're raddidge.
