On Friday the department manager asked me to step into the break room with her. The break room is the de-facto room for disciplinary action and firings. This time was just a chat to see what's up with me. For a minute, I thought that she might've seen Thursday's entry.

No one at work knows about this site or my personal life beyond having a cat and raddidge.

I think this was precipitated by my email inquiry regarding someone taking off for her birthday when November and December are no-personal-time months considering the volume of work. I felt the emails went amicably and I used smilies to prevent any misunderstanding.

Needless to say, I got some praise and that was that. Next year, I'm requesting a day off on my birthday.

Downtime speaks
A story related to me by Downtime a.k.a. manfriend on LambdaMOO Posted without permission but I felt it was compelling enough for heptapod.org.

"What do you call it when the assasins accuse the assasin ?"
Joey page, "So today I'm sitting at a traffic light next to a nigger in a honda. Suddenly I hear a loud "poof" from his car and flames shoot out from the front right corner of the hood of his car."
Shortest alias: ak
"The smell -- you know, that gasoline smell -- the whole hill -- it smelled like victory."
Joey page, "Light turns green and he drives on down the road like nothing is wrong. It's 11 degrees out but when his car filled with smoke he rolls down the windows."
"When you find the colonel infiltrate his team by whatever means available and terminate the colonel's command."
Joey page, "About 1/2 mile down the road he can no longer ignore the flames. The front tires are on fire and flames are coming out from all around the hood and the bottom of the car. Probably inside the car, too."
"Dialectic logic is there's only love and hate, you either love somebody or you hate them."
Joey page, "What does he do? He pulls into a goddamn gas station and parks near the pumps and causually walks inside."
"It smelled like slow death in there, malaria, nightmares. This was the end of the river allright."
Joey page, "casually"
"How many people had I already killed?"
Joey page, "I could see the whole fucking car is in flames in my mirror as I drove on down the road."
